Do men and women have different risk tolerances?

Men ~0.4 SD more risk-tolerant

Do men and women have different risk tolerances?

Across cultures and domains, men consistently report higher risk tolerance than women — by about 0.3–0.5 standard deviations on average. The gender gap is largest for physical risk (bungee jumping, extreme sports) and smallest for social risk. However, the gap narrows significantly when controlling for wealth, financial literacy, and social context.
